Gdansk: Get your appetite on

The food in Gdansk is quite good. It’s hearty, of course, which is to be expected in a climate that’s relatively cool year around. I snapped a few photos of the dishes Kathy and I scarfed down in restaurants while in the city in late October.

Pickled herring with bread. Perhaps my favorite dish while in northern Poland.

Small, often elegant cafes dot the Gdansk, most selling the same pastries and offering coffee and tea. Pastries are not light and delicate; they're substantial. I could scarcely finish the hazelnut-filled crescent above.
